Princess Dolls
Princess dolls are known for emphasizing feminine qualities.
They often have pink or pastel clothing and accessories. They commonly
come wearing ornate gowns as well as tiaras and ballroom shoes.
Some people do not approve of princess dolls. This is because the girly
qualities associated with princesses also include being simple-minded,
weak, vulnerable, and unrealistically pure. Many princess dolls today
have other qualities and skills emphasized to counteract this bad image.
The Disney Princess dolls are among the most recognized today. Snow
White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, and Pocahontas
are Disney's main eight princess characters. Although the company has
been working with princess stories for over 70 years, the actual line
was not envisioned until the year 2000.
