Stuffed Dolls
Stuffed dolls are toys created from textiles. Some date
back to the 1830s. Plush toys, soft toys, and cuddly toys are other
terms used for these items.
The materials used to create the outer portions of stuffed dolls include
cloth, plush, and various other fabrics and fur textures. Some may be
combined with plastic elements. The stuffing used includes straw, beans,
plastic pellets, cotton, and synthetic fibers among other materials.
Stuffed dolls are commonly the earliest toys given to children. There
are two main reasons for this. The first is they do not generally include
hard or dangerous edges. The second is because their soft texture is
comforting. The soft and gentle design of such items also has them commonly
used as romantic gifts.
